It's Market Day
Today at the market...
I totally need a top hat, right?!
I do totally need to copy this swagger
Vintage lovlies waiting for a home
I did find a new lady-like, grown-up, but oh-so-pink scarf

Confession: I Worked at Contempo Casuals
In the 90's I was a Contempo Casuals sales girl. My best friends were Angela (the redhead) and Sunshine (who was in a band). We all had the Rachel haircut and we all spent our paychecks on clothes we had put on hold for weeks waiting to use our discounts. I was working at Contempo Casuals when they paired up to style the clothing for the movie Clueless, which we all had to go and see at the theatres when it came out. I remember pointing out each pleated plaid mini skirt, baby tee, and crop top long sleeve angora sweater that we had in the store.By the way, I had those socks and silver mary janes.
*Low Points*
There were plenty. There were way too many rules, one time I sprained my ankle. It was swollen 3 times it's size but I went into work anyways. The manager made me stand the whole time because it was rule that no one could sit down when on the clock. I was in so much pain but at least I can look back and say that I followed the rules. (That was sarcastic). We also had to have clear purses so when we left everyone could see that we didn't steal from the company.
*High Points*
Being recognized at the roller skating rink by some younger girls who thought that Angela, Sunshine, and I were the coolest girls ever because we worked at Contempo. We were minor celebrities at the roller skating rink for sure.
New shipment day. Being the first one to unpack new inventory and ooing and ahhing over every new thing was awesome.
*Least Favorite Job*
Cleaning out the dressing rooms (because girls just threw everything on the floor) and re-stocking the scrunchy wall.
*Favorite Job*
Chosing the outfits for the window displays. Wish I had pictures.
*Morbid Historical Fact*
All employees had to walk out to the parking lot together for safety because we were told that in 1974 in our parking lot in Murray Utah, Ted Bundy kidnapped one of his many victims. That woman, who I now know was Carol DaRonch, was the only woman whom ever got away alive from Bundy. So we always escorted each other out to our cars for this reason.
Alas, Contempo was bought out by Wet Seal and I went on to work elsewhere shortly after that. I couldn't be a seal. I was a Contempo girl all the way.
